One question we hear all the time is “Am I a candidate for Invisalign?” It’s a great question and one that Dr Chris will go over in your consultation, but here are a few things that help him make the decision on whether a patient should have braces or Invisalign.
Invisalign works great for patients who are responsible. Invisalign trays are designed to be worn at least 20 hours a day to get proper tooth movement. If a patient is unsure if they will wear the trays, or we are worried that the trays won’t be worn enough, braces are probably the better option. But for those patients that will wear the trays as directed, Invisalign is a great option.
Another important factor in deciding braces vs Invisalign is a patient’s hygiene. Brushing your teeth is vital whether you have braces or Invisalign, but we have found that it can be a lot easier to keep the teeth clean with Invisalign instead of braces. With braces, the wires and rubber bands can make it very difficult to clean everything around the teeth. With Invisalign, the trays pop out and the patient can brush without anything in the way, making it way easier to complete those teeth nice and clean!
The final factor that we look at when deciding braces vs Invisalign is the type of case that we are dealing with. Some cases are just treated better with braces, and some cases are treated better with Invisalign. At your FREE consultation, we will diagnose the problems, explain how the problems can be fixed, and help decide what the best treatment type will be for you.
